Congratulations on deciding to purchase a home. The Lindley Team understands that this can be a difficult and stressful process, which is why we’ve provided a checklist below to help you stay organized in the Portland mortgage process.
Make sure you have all your general information and documents together, this includes:
- Your social security number
- Your life insurance policy (if applicable)
- Copy of divorce decree (if applicable)
- Governmental financial assistance (if applicable)
- Your credit card account information
- All your personal loan account information (if applicable)
- Auto loan account information (if applicable)
- Proof of income (pay stubs or tax returns)
- Two months’ worth of bank statements
- Retirement account information (if applicable)
- If you own other properties:
- state your mortgage information
- home equity
- homeowner’s insurance policy information
Also make sure that you have your credit report reviewed:
- Ask us to pull your credit so we can review together
- If your credit report has incorrect information, we’ll help you correct it ahead of time
- We will evaluate whether actions need to be taken to improve your credit score and credit worthiness
- Assess if you are financially ready to purchase a house
In some instances, we’ll need to document additional assets/income, in which case you will also need to provide additional financial information:
- Show proof of money in the stock market (if applicable)
- Proof of down payment funds and closing costs
- Source and document funds that are gifted to you, and provide a letter of explanation
As your local Portland mortgage lender, we hope this checklist can ease the process of obtaining a mortgage. There is a lot to take in when shopping the market for Portland home loans, and we are here to make this process as simple and stress free as possible.
