Hazelwood Neighborhood – Your New Home

Hazelwood is one of East Portland’s most attractive neighborhoods, offering affordability and convenience together in a unique mix. From residential to commercial districts, Hazelwood offers an array of options for first-time homebuyers who want the best bang for their buck – all with easy access into downtown Portland via its IMAX proximity!
Residents of Hazelwood have their choice from condos and townhouses, modest ranch-style homes, and some larger houses. Most of the houses were built in the 1950s through the 1970s, while the apartments are newer developments. Many are on quiet, tree-lined streets, though some of the apartments are located in busier areas of the neighborhood, such as on 122nd Ave or Burnside Street. Because Hazelwood is fairly far from downtown Portland, homes tend to be more affordable than similar houses in ‘close-in’ neighborhoods. This is a good location for seniors and/or retired people to consider living.
Hazelwood stands out for its wealth of medical services and shopping offerings. From the bustling Adventist Hospital to a variety of doctors’ offices, residents can enjoy treating their physical health needs with ease. Shopping enthusiasts have plenty to explore at Gateway Shopping Center and Mall 205 – it’s no wonder this area is such an attractive part of the city!
There are also a number of parks in the area, providing a good balance with the relatively crowded commercial areas. There are a few nice parks dispersed around town and overall, a nice community. Many say Hazelwood has huge potential given its location, public transportation, employment opportunities and a growing interest from the community to improve the overall ambiance of the town.
