Madison South is the hidden gem of Northeast Portland, tucked between two interstate highways and bordered to the West by Glenhaven City Park. Explore nature in your own backyard with direct access to Rocky Butte State Park or take a stroll through one of the many green spaces this area has to offer! With plenty of outdoor activities available right outside your door, you won’t need much convincing that Madison South should be at the top of anyone’s list for places livable areas in NE PDX.
The top of Rocky Butte is one of the prettiest vantage points in all of Portland. Not only can you see the Portland skyline, but also the mountains in the distance. This is also part of the Boring Lava group, which are cinder cones located in Oregon. This natural area is quite amazing and really the best part of this neighborhood. There are also two huge castle walls, which are good for climbing. You will also see various sporty folks biking through this park.
Next door to the park is the City Bible Church campus and Portland Bible College. The MAX light rail station at NE 82nd Ave makes it easy to commute downtown. However, most Madison South residents do own their car and rely on it daily; unlike more urban areas of Portland, it is not common to see people commuting by bus or bike.
Madison South is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood with something for everyone. From local Banfield Pet Hospital headquarters to homes dating back as far as the 1940s, this family-friendly community offers its residents an incredibly suburban living experience at accessible prices. With hundreds of residences ranging in age from midcentury classics to brand-new constructions, it’s no surprise that Madison South has become a popular destination for first-time homebuyers looking to explore all that Portland has to offer!

- Dharma Rain Zen Center
DRZC is a diverse group of people who come together to share the practice of meditation, and to study the principles of Buddhism. The purpose of the Center is to offer instruction in Zen practice and Buddhist teachings, and to provide a place where people can form a community that supports Zen practice in everyday life.
- Rose City Golf Course
Rose City Golf Course, in Northeast Portland, is a classic municipal course with a parkland feel. Nestled into a charming old neighborhood, its common to see the surrounding trails and park benches being utilized by residents. Opened in 1923, Rose City is the second oldest course in the city, and has a throwback feel with traditional features. The abundant rows of old growth trees are a staple to the traditional style this course was founded upon, and adequately symbolize the long history of these grounds. Perhaps the easiest of Portland’s municipals, Rose City is a fun, affordable course for all golfers.
