Montavilla Neighborhood – Your New Home
The Lindley Team at Mortgage Express | 503.517.8641
Montavilla is a suburb of Portland that really has improved quite a bit in the past several years. Once considered not so desirable, Montavilla is really gathering some steam with a dedicated group of residents, the Montavilla Neighborhood Association, who are determined to make it an up and coming community. Housing is affordable and new restaurants and shops are popping up frequently. The town sponsors a very popular Farmer’s Market, has a nice Community Center with a great sized outdoor pool that can be quite busy during the summer.
Mt. Tabor is located nearby and is very popular for outdoor activities like biking and hiking. It’s an approximately 10 minute drive to downtown Portland or a 15-minute bus ride. There are also a number of new businesses that have recently opened in the neighborhood. The section of 82nd Avenue from Powell to Glisan is particularly well-known as the home of many of the city’s Chinese-owned stores and restaurants.
Spacious homes can be bought for a lower price than what you might find in other parts of Portland. Styles include bungalows, cottages and ranch style homes. Also there are new condo developments in this part of the city. Also, the schools in this area have a pretty good reputation. Parks for families who live in Montavilla include Montavilla Park and Berrydale Park. Both have picnicking, and softball fields. Those who are looking to garden will be pleased to learn that the Berrydale Community Garden is right in Montavilla. This neighborhood has an urban, artsy, bike-friendly, green and eco-conscious vibe. This is a neighborhood of families, singles and urbanites.
