Piedmont Neighborhood – Your New Home

Piedmont is located in the North section of Portland. The I-5 freeway runs alongside Piedmont and commuting to downtown is quick and less than five minutes. While there are not lots of shopping and restaurant opportunities in this neighborhood, you are close to the popular Mississippi District and Alberta Arts District for entertainment and fun, unique stores.
Piedmont locals enjoy easy access to New Seasons Market, what seems like their own private light rail (the Max), a half dozen coffee shops and other independent businesses and restaurants in Piedmont proper and its surrounding neighborhoods. Portland Community College has done a great deal to revamp the area surrounding the school campus on Killingsworth and Albina. Area residents pride themselves on rebuilding both the homes and the community.
Local business standouts are New Seasons Market, The Red Fox, Saraveza (beer bottle shop), The Arbor Lodge Cafe and E’njoni Ethiopian Cafe. Area locals spend a great deal of time down in the Historic Mississippi area, otherwise known as Boise-Eliot as well as Kenton and St Johns neighborhoods. The Piedmont neighborhood is also home to one of the oldest parks in the Pacific Northwest, the beautiful Peninsula Park. This stunning park is prized by locals and painstaking maintained by local volunteers as well. This park helped to earn Portland the title of “City of Roses”.
The campus of Portland Community College is nearby, so there are quite a few college students living in Piedmont, giving the neighborhood an invigorating feeling of constant change. Other residents of Piedmont include old-timers, young families, and singles in their 20s and 30s. This working-class suburb offers affordable housing to those who want easy access to everything the city has to offer.
